Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow (please!)

I'm not generally a "winter" person.  I enjoy summer, i adore spring & i love autumn... but the way the weather has been over the last few weeks (first flurries, then cold wind, now 100% cloud covering for days on end), i'm ready for snow.

I've been doing more knitting than reading lately.  I have a slew of items to complete before Christmas. Hats for Connor Caps, a stocking cap for our school mascot, a scarf for my BIL, a pair of socks or two... the situation is becoming dire.

On my bookshelf, however, hovers Inkdeath and i'm finding it harder and harder to resist. I'll let you know how I manage -- I must send the Connor Caps to ChocolateSheepASAP.  I also participate in Teachers as Readers (TAR) now, so i have about 8 more picture books to peruse before our next meeting.

Hello again, my avid readers! (Are there any of you left?)
I have missed writing tremendously over the last few (5!!!) months.
Where have I been? What have I been doing?
Well...

June brought with it the 52 Pair Plunge II.  Things were going well... my last entry was full of pride at my first shared pattern.  I was actually keeping up with the pair-of-socks-a-week requirement of the 52PP when calamity struck in

July.  That tragedy was a severed tendon (80%; pointer finger) in my left hand (bread knife accident).  After surgery and much physical therapy I am finally (almost) back to normal.  I did a lot of reading while i was on the PUP list & i'll update my sidebar some time this week.  In addition to recouperating, i spent

August searching for a new job (i lost my job in July... it was not such a great month).  Since i could still use my right hand, i finished painting the bathroom, and i painted the dining room, and i started painting the "Mastiff Country Safari" fence.  I found a job in

September and i have been working ever since.  In

October i finished my first post-injury knitting project (a pumpkin hat for my littlest niece), despite only being able to work on it in (pain-free as possible) intervals.  I've written off being able to complete the 52PPII as i'm behind too many pairs-- which means i'll have to run it again next year (i am one bound-and-determined young lady). It is now mid-

November and i am desperately trying to do some Christmas knitting.  Somehow I got suckered into knitting a hat for our school mascot. I use the term "suckered" extremely loosely here... i totally volunteered.  Nothing like creating a 30+" diameter piece of school history that will stay with the mascot for years to come... it may be my only shot at immortality! ;D

Okay, so now we're caught up.
I'm going to do some quick updates on the sidebars before some Monday Night Football action...
